Dan and I were asked by the Wyandotte Patch to
share one of our favorite recipes. Dan selected to make Chinese
Dumpling. This is by far one of my favorite dishes he makes for us. It
is delicious! Dan was visiting one of our clients before the Patch
came over for the story. David Reno from Winedotte Wines
recommended the white wine to serve with the Chinese Dumplings. Oh was
he right! The white wine he choose brought out the flavor of the
dumplings. It was so yummy!

With the help of Mediagrump.com, Dianna Caldwell of Tropical Freeze, Inc has launched her new and improved website! Tropical Freeze, Inc rents frozen drink machines that can make slushies, margaritas, frozen cappuccino's, even daiquiris. Dianna's frozen drink machines are a fun addition to ANY party from kids to adults, from backyard barbecues to weddings! Dan Cataldo did a wonderful job with all the technical stuff behind the website, including finding the perfect "get ready for a party" tunes that accompany the website. Stacy Priebe Cataldo was on graphic design. She selected the tropical colors, photoshopping the frozen drink machine photos.

Small Business should join DADBA
What is DADBA? It is the premier business association here in the Downriver and Detroit area. There are nearly 500 members and counting. There are weekly meetings where you can network and discuss various topics. Every meeting we have attended are productive and positive. All the members are great and work together to help each other out whether it's through referral or direct dealings.

Business Networking is a Must for Small Businesses!
We went to a productive Business Networking meeting this morning. The event was hosted by the Downriver and Detroit Business Association with the special guest Chef Brian Ramirez Great meeting and an even better breakfast!
I have been at fault for not networking for our business as much as we should. It's tough to drag yourself out of bed for early morning meeting, or stop what your doing in the middle of the day to go to a luncheon, or even worse, keep motivated at night to catch an evening meeting. But every time I have made it a point to attend a networking event it has paid off!
This had made me realize, as important as it is produce our products, it is MORE important to gain clients so we have products to produce! I am grateful to other small businesses that do attend these meetings. I know they are feeling just as tired, overwhelmed or perhaps unmotivated as I do when attending these meetings. But once you get the swing of talking, exchanging information, my mind lights right up and the motivation and the passion comes right back.
The drive and passion of doing what we do is the whole reason for owning your own business right? Without it, what is the point? So I wanted to express my thoughts and appreciation to DADBA and all other business associations for giving small business owners like me an opportunity to not only claim new clients, but during these trying economic times, to claim my driving passion for my business again.

The Lost & Found Shop
Great short film I found when Dan, myself & my sister Lisa went to the Detroit Independent Film Festival. Made me cry.
Mistaken Identity in Negative Advertising
Please note that our Dollars & Sense Coupons magazine is on hiatus and has been sense early 2010.
We have not published a Dollars & Sense Coupons booklet since then.
However, we continue to field complaints and questionable reviews regarding our company. In our opinion, we believe that it is either poorly informed "competition", a disgruntled acquaintance or perhaps businesses may be mistaking us for another local company with a very similar name and cover design to our former publication, named Dollars Inside of Taylor MI. There are times we even field phone calls from local businesses asking us about their "current advertising" and other various "questions" relating to this business. Note- We are not implying nor claiming that Dollars Inside is a non-reputable business. We only happen to field some of their clients and perspective clients. We are simply noting mistaken identity, that is all. In fact, though we can not comment on their customer service habits, we believe at the moment they are providing extremely low cost advertising ranging in price from $99 to $175 for a half page ad!
We continue receiving negative reviews through Merchant Circle and other various websites. These reviews are from names and some cities that we have no record of ever conducted business nor having contact with. In addition, many are complaints regarding "deceptive advertising", "lousy customer service", "watch for the bait and switch", "poor presentation", "no results from my ad".
These are recent complaints that continue to come to our attention. But these are bogus complaints of no merit. They are either mistaken identity or mistaken information. One complaint is in December 2010 posted on a very negative and biased website host claiming, "Poor response from my advertising." "They are a cancer." "Small businesses beware"..."I prefer JB Dollar..." Complaints have been as recent as March 16, 2011. This would make it impossible to be us since there has been no Dollars & Sense Coupon booklet for quite some time now.
Please be assured that it is our mission to have the highest level of customer satisfaction delivered with the most affordable pricing. We currently focus on Graphic Design and printing for local businesses with items such as business cards, postcards, brochures and booklets.
Perhaps one day when Michigan's erratic economy stabilizes, we will return with a Dollars & Sense Coupons book. But for today, we focus on only the positive business each day may bring.
Sincerely,
Dan Cataldo
President

The problem I see on the technology side is designing so many ads to really customize it. Some people my take offense if it is too generalized, such as based on ethnicity.
Overall, I am very curious about this and hope to see it in Michigan sometime soon.
